Join the Trails Committee of the Appalachian Mountain Clubs (AMC) Connecticut Chapter on Saturday, June 29 at 9 a.m.
as they build a new section of the Appalachian Trail on Schgauticoke Mountain.
This event is a memorial tribute to Richard Wanderman, a devoted maintainer for both the Connecticut and Massachusetts Appalachian Trail Committees, who passed away this spring. Richard maintained this section of the Appalachian Trail for several years. Help us honor him by working on this unique and important project, approved by the Connecticut AMC Trails Committee, the National Park Service and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. You will learn how trail routes are selected and what is involved in constructing a sustainable trail. This is a truly unique way to learn what goes into the building of a trail and to gain first-hand experience in trail construction.
Please be sure to wear long pants and sturdy boots. Bring plenty of water and snacks for the day, a lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and a rain jacket.
